Zhongtian Hechuang is accelerating the construction of two key low-carbon projects in Wushen Banner, Ordos, Inner Mongolia: the integrated wind-solar hydrogen production project and the green carbon reduction upgrading and renovation project. With a total investment of CNY 10.97 billion, the dual projects are progressing steadily on schedule to reshape the green development model of modern coal chemical industry.
The green hydrogen integration project involves a total investment of 4.85 billion yuan, with a configured clean energy capacity of 450 MW wind power plus 236.8 MW photovoltaic power. Upon completion, the project will achieve an annual green hydrogen output of 30,000 tons, providing stable zero-carbon hydrogen energy for local industrial upgrading.
With a total investment of 6.12 billion yuan, the transformation project targets the existing coal chemical production facilities. It focuses on systematic renovation and optimal matching by integrating green hydrogen and green oxygen resources, realizing low-carbon transformation of traditional coal chemical production processes.
The overall engineering design progress of the green hydrogen project has exceeded 90%, with mechanical completion scheduled for October 2026. The green carbon reduction upgrading project is expected to finish mechanical construction by the end of 2027.
The dual projects adopt an innovative green power-to-hydrogen plus green hydrogen-coupled coal chemical operational model, effectively solving the volatility and instability challenges of renewable hydrogen supply and realizing stable industrial application of green hydrogen.
By replacing traditional gray hydrogen with 30,000 tons of self-produced green hydrogen every year, the projects can achieve an annual carbon reduction of over 1.2 million tons, delivering remarkable environmental and emission-reduction benefits.
A complete closed-loop industrial chain is established, covering green power hydrogen production, green hydrogen-coupled coal chemical production, and high-end chemical product manufacturing, realizing full-process clean production from energy input to terminal output.
The new projects extend, supplement and strengthen the local coal chemical industrial chain, driving the traditional coal chemical sector to shift toward high-end, green and low-carbon development. New production units for acetic acid and vinyl acetate will be built to significantly increase the added value of chemical products and optimize the product structure.
In addition, the large-scale green hydrogen project strongly boosts the clustering development of Inner Mongolia’s hydrogen energy industry and provides solid support for China’s dual-carbon strategic goals (carbon peaking and carbon neutrality).
Upon full completion, the two landmark projects will become a benchmark for the green and low-carbon transformation of traditional energy industries. By restructuring the coal chemical production system with clean green hydrogen, Zhongtian Hechuang provides a replicable and promotable development model for the high-quality upgrading of modern coal chemical industry across China.
