Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fiber Showcases Green & Functional Fiber Innovations at 2026 Shanghai Yarn Exhibition

Nearly half a century ago, Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fiber was founded to tackle the textile shortage plaguing hundreds of millions of Chinese people, with a solemn mission to “provide every citizen in China with a brand-new set of clothes”. In recent years, while continuing to guarantee people’s daily textile supply, the company has steadily advanced into a new era of intelligent and eco-friendly development.

Reporters learned from Yizheng on March 22 that the 2026 China International Textile Yarn (Spring & Summer) Exhibition was recently held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).

As the world’s first major textile fiber and yarn exhibition of the year, the event serves as a vital industry weathervane and a prime opportunity for enterprises to seize early-year market orders.

Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fiber brought three major categories of innovative products to the show: eco-friendly fibers, functional fibers and thermal management fibers. Its lineup covered more than ten cutting-edge achievements including mosquito-repellent staple fibers and hydrophobic staple fibers, fully demonstrating the company’s technological breakthroughs and progress in sustainable fiber manufacturing.

This year’s exhibition drew an impressive scale, gathering over 600 premium fiber and yarn manufacturers from 12 countries and regions across a 27,000-square-meter exhibition space. It ran concurrently with four other parallel expos covering fabrics & accessories, apparel, home textiles and knitwear, forming a comprehensive five-show integrated platform.

Under the theme “Adding Color to a Better Life”, Sinopec set up physical display booths and video presentations to fully exhibit the innovation and technical superiority of its synthetic fiber portfolio.

As a core pillar of Sinopec’s synthetic fiber business, Yizheng Chemical Fiber aligned its exhibits with the exhibition’s core themes of “Technology, Fashion, Sustainability and Health”, presenting multiple industry-leading fiber technologies.

In the functional fiber segment, mosquito-repellent staple fibers integrate antibacterial, anti-mite and anti-mold performance, ideal for outdoor apparel, undergarments and children’s wear. Hydrophobic staple fibers form micro-nano structures on fabric surfaces to deliver waterproof and quick-drying properties, offering new material solutions for windbreakers and other functional textiles.

For eco-friendly fiber solutions, the display featured the Yiran® recycled fiber series, physically and chemically recycled fibers, low-extraction polyester fibers and functional PTT staple fibers. These sustainable products reflect the company’s long-term commitment to circular textile development.

The thermal management fiber lineup included full-dull moisture-wicking fibers, thermal batting, cool-feeling UV-resistant fibers and Yishuang silk, each engineered to suit diverse wear scenarios with distinct temperature regulation features.

In addition, premium home interior materials such as soothing cotton, antibacterial & anti-mold staple fibers and down-like synthetic fibers, as well as PBT materials for photochromic footwear, drew crowds of buyers for consultation and business negotiations.

Yizheng’s development journey stretches far beyond basic civilian textile supply. Entering the new century, the enterprise focused on tackling core bottleneck technologies and built China’s first industrial-scale dry spinning production line for high-performance polyethylene fiber. The fiber material was used to hoist 6,000 tons of immersed tunnel segments during the construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, proving the extraordinary load-bearing strength hidden in a single filament.

In 2024, its 3 million tons per annum PTA production plant went online, adopting green manufacturing processes that deliver industry-leading performance in energy consumption, raw material usage and three-waste emissions per ton of product, driving greener and more sustainable growth across the textile supply chain.

Yizheng Chemical Fiber’s nearly 50-year development journey carries an enduring spirit of hard work and industrial dedication to the nation. It was established to resolve national textile shortages, flourished through technological breakthroughs that transformed the industry, and thrives by innovating materials for better quality of life. Every technological upgrade of its fiber products answers the evolving demands of the times.

Participation in this Shanghai exhibition stands as a tangible practice of the company’s founding mission, as well as solid evidence of its deep focus on core manufacturing and accelerated transformation toward high-end, intelligent and green production.
