Founded in 2004, Sinopec Qingdao Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd. is a super-large integrated petrochemical joint venture co-invested by Sinopec, Shandong Provincial Government and Qingdao Municipal Government, with a capital contribution ratio of 85:10:5. The company’s 10 million tons per annum single-train refining project is the first nationally approved single-series ten-million-ton-level refinery in China. It serves as a core strategic project for Sinopec to optimize domestic refining layout and build the Bohai Rim petrochemical industrial cluster.

Centering on new quality productivity development, the company targets to build Qingdao’s No.1 hydrogen energy supply enterprise. It actively promotes the construction of integrated production, research and processing demonstration parks, and is officially included in the national Hydrogen Entering Ten Thousand Households technology demonstration project.

4. Green Low-carbon Energy R&D and Future Layout

To accelerate clean energy transformation, Sinopec Qingdao Refining develops distributed photovoltaic power generation and alkaline water electrolysis hydrogen production. It also conducts targeted research on offshore floating photovoltaic power for green hydrogen production. Following the development strategy of generating power from solar energy and producing hydrogen from marine resources, the company strives to build a stable local green hydrogen supply system in Qingdao and pioneer regional marine-solar integrated zero-carbon energy models.
