Sinopec Qilu Petrochemical Company Produces High-polymer Polyvinyl Chloride Resin Products

Recently, the pilot plant of Qilu Petrochemical's chlor-alkali plant successfully produced high-polymerization-degree polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin. All key indicators of the product met design requirements, marking a crucial step in Qilu Petrochemical's transformation towards high-end PVC products.

As a high-performance specialty material possessing both rubber and plastic properties, high-polymerization-degree PVC is widely used in high-end artificial leather, large inflatable products, and medical blood bags, with promising market prospects and economic benefits. Previously, the pilot plant of Qilu Petrochemical's chlor-alkali plant had filled the technological gap in developing low-polymerization-degree products with its existing facilities, successfully developing a new low-polymerization-degree chlorinated PVC product that gained customer recognition. This time, the research and development focus is further shifting towards high-polymerization-degree grades.

To overcome the technical difficulties, the Qilu Petrochemical Research Institute quickly assembled a research and development team. After multiple rounds of small-scale experiments and parameter optimization, they achieved a breakthrough in laboratory technology for high-polymerization-degree PVC. They then conducted simulated operating condition tests at the pilot plant. The technical staff worked together to analyze the data, consult literature, and repeatedly optimize the system parameters and polymerization formula. They also adjusted the feeding method and successfully solved problems such as poor matching between the viscosity of the additives and the equipment, and asynchronous feeding rhythm, laying the foundation for the product launch.
