Sinopec Hunan Petrochemical: Restructured Giant Leading Hunan’s Chemical Industry

Formed via the merger of the former Baling Petrochemical Company and Changling Refining & Chemical Company, Sinopec Hunan Petrochemical Co., Ltd. has evolved into a large-scale refining and chemical manufacturer with over 50 years of operational development. It currently ranks as Hunan Province’s largest refined oil supplier and chemical material producer.

The company boasts integrated industrial chains covering oil refining, coal chemical engineering, caprolactam, thermoplastic elastomers, epoxy resin and propylene oxide, with more than 100 categories of finished products in total. Its core production capacity indicators are impressive: the primary crude oil refining capacity hits 15 million tons per annum; the coal gasification unit consumes 4,500 tons of coal daily; the annual production capacity reaches 600,000 tons for caprolactam, 380,000 tons for thermoplastic elastomers, 120,000 tons for epoxy resin, and 100,000 tons for propylene oxide.

From January to November 2023, the company achieved solid business performance. It processed 8.306 million tons of crude oil in total, generated operating revenue of RMB 69.1 billion, booked a total profit of RMB 660 million, and paid taxes and dues worth RMB 10.32 billion.

Looking ahead, Sinopec Hunan Petrochemical will foster a diversified industrial pattern featured byclean fuels, modern chemicals and high-end chemical materials. It aims to build China Petrochemical’s most distinctive ethylene refining-chemical integration base, the world’s largest production hub for caprolactam and thermoplastic elastomers, as well as a key domestic manufacturing base for epoxy resin and propylene oxide.
