SINOPEC Hunan Petrochemical has delivered over 60 tons of its newly-developed food-grade polypropylene special grade PPD-MN60, dedicated to milk tea cup manufacturing, to downstream manufacturers in Hubei and Hunan provinces in batches. The delivery prepares sufficient high-quality and eco-friendly raw materials for the upcoming summer peak season of milk tea consumption.
To seize the booming market demand for beverage products in summer, SINOPEC Hunan Petrochemical forged close collaboration with Sinochem Marketing Central China to collect real-time market data. The R&D team also conducted in-depth communication with multiple milk tea cup manufacturers to investigate market trends and customized client requirements, and swiftly initiated the research and development of food-grade polypropylene for disposable beverage packaging.
During the R&D phase, guided by experts from professional research institutions, technical researchers compiled detailed experimental plans. The team adopted high-stability and high-activity catalysts, and precisely regulated production temperature, pressure and other core operational parameters to accelerate pilot tests of the new material.
The 100,000-ton annual polypropylene production unit of SINOPEC Hunan Petrochemical was commissioned during China’s Ninth Five-Year Plan period, suffering from widespread aging equipment problems. To tackle operational constraints, technicians fine-tuned operational data and arranged exclusive operators for large-scale units throughout trial production, and finally achieved stable output of PPD-MN60.
Made of this innovative polypropylene material, finished milk tea cups feature colorlessness, odorlessness and outstanding toughness. The eco-friendly product stands as an ideal raw material for safe and healthy beverage packaging.
SINOPEC Guangzhou Petrochemical has successfully completed the trial production of 300 tons of K9910, a brand-new high-impact polypropylene grade, via its No.3 polypropylene unit. The first batch of products has been delivered to downstream clients for application tests.
Driven by the surging domestic market demand for high-rubber and high-impact dedicated polypropylene materials, the product segment has occupied an expanding market share in recent years. After capturing the customized industrial demand, the R&D team of SINOPEC Guangzhou Petrochemical kicked off product iteration immediately.
Based on its mature product K9930, the technical team optimized core performance indicators and formulated scientific trial production schemes matching onsite operational conditions. The newly launched K9910 boasts premium aging resistance, balanced rigidity and ductility, as well as exceptional anti-impact capacity. It is widely applicable to core manufacturing scenarios of the automotive industry.
SINOPEC Shijiazhuang Refining & Chemical has stably produced 52.125 tons of qualified polypropylene PPD-F03, a newly-developed resin grade, strengthening the enterprise’s competitiveness in the polypropylene market.
Compared with conventional polypropylene products, PPD-F03 features wide molecular weight distribution and ultra-low ash content. The specialty material can endow biaxially oriented thin films with fewer crystal spots, higher transparency and uniform thickness. Targeted for packaging scenarios including aluminum-plated films and cigarette packaging films, the new grade diversifies Sinopec’s polypropylene product portfolio and satisfies booming high-end packaging material demands.
To guarantee one-time successful trial production, the R&D task force held in-depth technical consultations with Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry to finalize production schemes, and completed full pre-production condition verification. During manufacturing, technicians and operators strictly followed standardized workflows and confirmed every operational step. On-site managers tracked the whole production process and monitored real-time parameter fluctuations, eliminating operational risks and ensuring stable output of qualified products.
